Simon Cowell has spoken out about Jane Marczewski, aka Nightbirde, missing out on this season’s America’s Got Talent finals.
During the second night of season 16 auditions, the amazing singer received the Golden Buzzer from Cowell, however, she announced shortly after that she was departing the competition to focus on her health due to her ongoing cancer struggle.

“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.” – Nightbirde
Cowell addressed the audience on Tuesday’s episode, revealing that Nightbirde’s health is actually improving.
“We are missing Jane tonight, I spoke to her earlier on,” Cowell told host Terry Crews. “The great news is she’s doing better! I know she would have been here at the finals and we’re all sending you, Jane, our love. We miss you. Just get better. We love you.”
This girl is a warrior, as we all know. She had cancer in her spine, lungs, and liver at the time of her audition, with a 2% chance of survival. “I have a two percent chance of survival but two percent is not zero percent” Nightbirde said. However, one standout performer is heading directly to the live performances.
Not only does Cowell believe Nightbirde would have made it to the finals, but he also believes she would have had a serious chance of winning the competition.
“Would she have won tonight? I think she probably would, actually,” Cowell shared with ET. “And I think she knows that deep down.”
“Having said that, she knows she made the right decision,” he added.
On Aug. 2, Nightbirde came to Instagram to reveal that she has decided to leave the season since her health had “taken a turn for the worse.”
“Sharing my heart with the world on AGT has been an honor and a dream come true. My point of view this summer has been astounding,” she shared in her post, alongside a somber black-and-white snapshot of herself sitting in her bed. “What a miracle that the pain I’ve walked through can be reworked into the beauty that makes people all over the world open their eyes wider.”
ZANESVILLE, Ohio (WJW)– Fans and supporters of Ohio singer Nightbirde have raised nearly $400,000 to cover her cancer treatments. Marczewski was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time in 2017. It was the first of three cancer diagnoses that recurred. Doctors told her 3 to 6 months to live in 2019.
“Since my audition, my health has taken a turn for the worse and the fight with cancer is demanding all of my energy and attention,” she continued. “I am so sad to announce that I won’t be able to continue forward on this season of AGT. Life doesn’t always give breaks to those that deserve it—but we knew that already.”

Nightbirde message during the season finale of "America's Got Talent,"
During the season finale of “America’s Got Talent,” the fan-favorite singer who withdrew due to a fight with cancer delivered an emotional message to the audience.
Nightbirde wrote in an Instagram post-Wednesday that it’s “so hard for me to not be on the @agt stage for the finals this week.”
” It’s so hard for me to not be on the @agt stage for the finals this week. I bet you never saw someone win so hard and lose so hard at the same time. This isn’t how the story was supposed to go.
I spend a lot of time squeezing my eyes shut and trying to remember what I believe; counting my breaths in the grief cloud; burying my face into God’s t-shirt.
I remind Him sometimes, (and not kindly) that I believed Him when He told me the story He wrote for me is good, and that He never stops thinking of me. I must be a fool in love, because even from under all this debris, I still believe Him. And when I’m too angry to ask Him to sit on my bed until I fall asleep, He still stays.
Someone released a fist full of wishing stars at sunset (STAR BALLOONS?! I mean WHAT!!) and yes, I sure did wish on every one.
Here we are, you and I, signing off on the risk of REBELLIOUSLY HOPING for better days. Let us not be blind to our own glory.
I’m raging and crying and hoping with everyone who needs to rage and cry and hope tonight. Also, wishing on helium balloons “.
